If you are reading this, look no further. I cannot say enough good things about me and my partner’s stay at Lapazul, a recently opened boutique hotel.
The property itself is gorgeous and everything from the rooms, to the restaurant, to the pool and grounds are well maintained and very clean. Navigating to the property was somewhat challenging; however, halfway through our stay, signs on the main road and side streets were installed to make for much easier navigation. I would recommend a 4×4 as there is a steep 10 minute drive from the main highway to the property.
The opulent, but welcoming gate and palm tree lined driveway set the tone for our stay. We were welcomed with a Costa Rican tropical drink by our server, Ronny, who quickly became our friend. Upon first arrival, we were stunned with how the infinity pool seamlessly transitions into the Pacific Ocean.
The rooms are spacious and almost every piece of furniture is custom made. The beds are comfortable and linens are very high quality. The food at the restaurant was very good; however, we did suggest to management a more diverse menu, such as including a special of the day.
Walking paths (for intermediate to advanced hikers) line the property and you may get a chance to see Lola the sloth feeding or sleeping in the trees. Expect to see bugs and frogs on the property, especially at night. However, we did not have any issues with bugs in our room as the property is kept clean and the AC rooms are not open to the outside. The large sliding glass doors do open to the balcony if you prefer an open feeling.
Lapazul is close to the village of Hatillo, 10 minutes from the surf town Dominical and is conveniently located from other towns and activities. There are also a number of beaches close by, each with different atmospheres. The staff has plenty of recommendations for sites and activities in the area. They were also able to accommodate a currency exchange.
Bottom line is the welcoming, attentive staff on a beautiful, well maintained and conveniently located property made for a very positive and memorable experience. You can expect plenty of Costa Rican sun, good energy and a place to fully embrace the Pura Vida lifestyle.
